Prof. Ricardo F. de Moraes
Gracie Barra North Austin & Gracie Barra Hutto - Texas
Jiu-Jitsu has been Professor Ricardo’s life for as long as he can remember. Born and raised in Campinas / Valinhos, São Paulo, Brazil, he stepped onto the mat for the first time at age 4, starting with Judo, and never looked back. By 16, he found Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and knew exactly where he belonged.
Over four decades later, that passion hasn’t faded one bit.
Professor Ricardo competed at the state, national, and international levels, earning titles in both Judo and BJJ along the way. But what drives him most has never been the trophies, it’s the moment a student finally gets a technique, or walks off the mat with more confidence than they walked on with.
In 2009, Professor Ricardo de Moraes made the move to the United States and spent years teaching at some of the most respected Gracie Barra schools in the country, including GB Anaheim Hills and the Gracie Barra US Headquarters in Irvine, California.
Today, as a proud American citizen, he calls Austin home, leading and building community at both Gracie Barra North Austin, located in the heart of North Austin, and Gracie Barra Hutto in the greater Austin area.
His classes bring the best of both worlds, the authentic Gracie Barra methodology and a genuine, lifelong passion for Jiu-Jitsu. Solid technique, a safe and welcoming environment, and a community that keeps you coming back.
Whether you’re a kid just starting out, an adult looking for fitness and stress relief, or someone chasing competition goals, there’s a place for you here.
For Professor Ricardo, BJJ isn’t just a sport. It’s a lifestyle. And he built these schools to share that with everyone.
