GB North AustinProfessor Ricardo Franco Moraes

Black Belt, 3rd degree

Professor Ricardo Franco Moraes is 39 years old from Valinhos, São Paulo, Brazil. He came to the United States to teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He has taught in GB Lake Ellsinore, GB Anaheim Hills and at the Headquarters in Irvine, California. He is currently head instructor at the Gracie Barra North Austin BJJ academy in Austin, TX. In Brazil he practiced other martial arts as well, starting at the age of 4. He earned a brown belt in Judo which he practiced for 12 years. Although he was in many different martial arts it was Brazilian Jiu Jitsu that captured his heart and showed him the way to live. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has taught him mental balance, discipline, concentration, how to live healthy and how to live well in society. He gives credit for much of his training success to his Professor Carlos Alberto Liberi, 5th degree black belt, who is Regional Director of the state of São Paulo Gracie Barra Association.

With the tools he learned in BJJ he went to college and graduated in Physical Education and Business Management. Gracie Barra is a lifestyle for Professor Ricardo Franco Moraes and he has been enjoying teaching others this way of living for 17 years. In addition to being a 3rd degree black belt in BJJ he also has a brown belt in Judo and has been a competitor for many years. Some of his titles include: 8 times champion of the state circuit (São Paulo, Brazil), Brazilian Champion (2006), and 2nd place Pan American Champion (2006).
